On the posters of the Russian Philharmonic Societies there’s an intriguing name – «The Fire Dances» (“The Passion of Spain”). And it is absolutely correct of those who immediately thought of «Danza ritual del fuego» from the ballet by Manuel de Falla’s «El amor brujo». The first part of this sparkling, fascinating and extremely challenging program will introduce to listeners the variety of masterpieces of Spanish and Latin American piano music: Isaac Albeniz – “Córdoba” and “Asturias” from the suite “Spain”, in which the composer refers to “a gold mine of folk art” and connects dance traditions of various regions of the country; Enrique Granados – enchanting sound and richness of Spanish folklore in his «Andaluza». «El Pelele» and «Quejas o la maja y el ruiseñor» from «Goyescas»; experimental harmonic solutions in the «Tres danzas Argentinas» by Alberto Ginastera.
The second part will feature renowned «Gaspard de la nuit» and «Alborada del gracioso» by Maurice Ravel – the pinnacles of the piano mastery, filled with unique Spanish flavor.
In addition to the solo piano recital, Vladimir Khomyakov will appear as a soloist with the Voronezh Youth Symphony Orchestra (conductor – Alexander Walker, UK), with the symphony orchestras of Tolyatti Philharmonic, Altai Philharmonic and Tomsk Academic Symphony Orchestra, performing the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No.3 by L. van Beethoven, Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No.2 of S. Rachmaninoff, as well as the brilliant 21st Piano Concerto by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, in which Vladimir Khomyakov will appear as both conductor and soloist with the Chamber Orchestra «Volga Philharmonic» of the Samara State Philharmonic Society.
